My first uncontrollable laughter episode for the second half of the semester happened last night. I just got a new ear piercing, and ever since then, my boyfriend, Matt, and I have been arguing about the best way to pierce an ear at home. I say that it’s more common to use a sterilized needle and an apple, while he says it’s better to use a potato rather than apple. I honestly could not tell you how or why we came upon this subject yesterday night, but this time, instead of arguing for either a potato or an apple, we each came up with more and more ludicrous things one could use to pierce an ear besides a nail and either a potato or an apple. Below is a short list of some of the options we had (in order of ludocrity):
Coming up with these crazy pairings left both of us in a fit of uncontrollable laughter at like 12:30 in the morning (which is normally way past my bedtime). This particular episode had the effect of preventing both of us from going to sleep in a timely manner. That being said, I see the health benefits laughter could have since I felt significantly less stressed and more awake after that than I think even a large, strong cup of coffee could do.
- A Samurai sword and a peach
- A rusty nail and a pineapple
- A chef’s knife and a grape
- A dull butter knife and an artichoke
- A twig and a carrot
- A sharpened fingernail and celery
- A cursed dagger and my ex’s still beating heart
- A cactus and my left hand (the cactus being repeatedly slapped into the ear until the correct hole was made)

Love your list, McKenna. Thanks for posting some humor. Stay safe and healthy.
ReplyDeleteI clicked on this post to comment on out of morbid curiosity since I'm deathly afraid of needles, and piercings terrify me. Then I read it and found myself actually laughing out loud, something that almost never happens when I'm by myself. I was chuckling at first, but the cactus method really did me in. I'm so glad I found this post!
ReplyDeleteThis was great! I always love jokes that extend from argument. I would like to know how exactly you pierce an ear with an apple as I am unfamiliar with the process. Although, the cursed dagger one was my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved this! This list made me laugh so hard. The first thing that popped into my mind was the scene from The Parent Trap where Hallie pierces Annie with a sterilized needle and an apple (idk why lol). I particularly liked the Samurai sword and peach option! Thanks for sharing!
